With Thanksgiving now over and December just around the corner, now is the perfect time to start stocking up (punny, I know 😉) on pieces for cold weather. If you live in colder parts of the world, it’s hard trying to manage freezing temperatures while still trying to look stylish. My biggest piece of advice when it comes to the holiday season is to know your color palette. Below, I’ve shared some of my tips on festive color palettes to keep in mind when shopping for the perfect winter wardrobe that’ll keep you warm and toasty all day long.
- Opt for darker shades. There’s a science behind why colors like brown, grey, black, and navy blue are perfect for winter. Darker shades tend to absorb light, whereas lighter colors (ex. white, light blue) tend to deflect light. Since it is cold in the wintertime, wearing shades on the dark side of the color spectrum will help absorb light and thus keep in the heat. If you have a particular trend in mind, choosing to buy that piece in a darker shade will definitely keep you a little bit warmer.
- Light blue is an option too. Though dark shades may keep you warmth, wearing dark colors every day may not be ideal for everyone. For those of you who looking to add color into your winter wardrobe, light blue is the perfect color to work with. Not only is light blue easy to find (most notably in light wash jeans), light blue tends to be seen as a festive color and reminds many of snow.
